The Teaching Self
Counselling for teachers and education professionals in Birmingham and online across the UK.
A confidential space to think about the work of teaching and the person behind the role, with a therapist who has spent many years in classrooms and school leadership.
The bell rings and the corridors fall quiet, but the weight of the day can remain. Safeguarding concerns, administrative demands and the emotional work of supporting young people can leave little space for you.
I’m Rob Higgins, a qualified counsellor and trainee integrative psychotherapist. Before beginning my psychotherapy training, I spent many years teaching in secondary schools and working in senior leadership. I now offer confidential counselling to teachers and education professionals, in Birmingham and online across the UK. Our work pays attention to the whole person, not simply the professional role you hold.
Education is a particular area of experience in my work, but it is not a requirement for working with me. I also welcome enquiries from adults outside the profession. Counselling beyond education
A considered, unhurried way of working.
My approach is integrative and relational, with sessions available in person in Birmingham or online across the UK.
